M San Myint was born in Rakhine State in 1965. After graduating from Yangon University, he was employed as a school teacher in Sittwe for eleven years. Returning to Yangon in the late 1990s, he took up his father's silkscreen printing trade. He has painted since 2004, working professionally since 2009.

In this painting, he uses silkscreen techniques to capture Burmese boys at an age when they will soon enter the monastery as novices, and have their heads shaved.
