印譜
印譜在古代書籍中屬於其中一個小分類,據考據最早的印譜始於宋代,今天所見的印譜最早見於明代,清朝中後期開始編撰印譜的風氣逐漸興盛。今天所見既有專錄先秦兩漢官私璽印,也有收錄明清流派印的印譜。印譜之學涉及文字、官制、人物、詩文、書法、雕刻、裝幀、材質等知識,今日逐漸成為一門專門的學問。
是次展覽所展出的印譜共有24種,既有專門著錄古璽印的印譜如《漢銅印叢》、《鉥印會存》,也有流派印章如《環溪艸廬集印》、《星堂印存》等。與以往展出的印譜相比較,是次展出的印譜會配合圖書館舉辦的「印譜板框賞析」講座主題,大家除了欣賞印譜印章,亦可以留心印譜之內的板框形態,比如有以吉祥文字化作篆書作為板框,也有以花草、雲紋、龍紋為板框。其中《鉥印會存》更是以全形拓青銅器作為板框背景,《星堂印存》則是把「星堂」兩字作為符號化入板框之中,可見編者之巧思。
林老師謂「印譜板框紋飾,既具有觀賞性又有實用功能,一般來說,板框於古籍或印譜葉面上有規範作用,與沒有板框之古籍或印譜相比較,具有板框紋飾者能使版面更整潔,視覺上有平衡、穩定效果,讀者的視點更能集中於內容部份,方便閱讀。」便是對板框藝術最好的註腳。

Seal Albums
According to research, seal albums as a genre began in Song Dynasty. The earliest extant titles are dated in the Ming Dynasty; and the compilation of seal albums became popular in mid to late Qing Dynasty. Some albums specify in collecting Qin and Han seals of officials as well as common people; while some collect impressions of seals of different schools during the Ming and Qing periods. To appreciate seal albums, connoisseurs need a wide range of knowledge including expertise on philology, imperial government systems, historical figures, poetry, calligraphy, carving, artistic framing and materials used.
